1. Move THE WHOLE FOLDER(!) "Domain Genius" into your Apps directory. That means not the files inside that folder but the folder itself!. Then open the folder.
2. Due to a peculiarity with Filemaker (which Domain Genius is based on) and Apples "code-signing" security measurements on newer Mac OS X operating systems you now have to run an Apple script to get the app running smoothly. But don't panic, this is easy and only has to be done once (Comment: Since you have downloaded the app from the web and not from a physical device, Apple has put it into "quarantine" and we first have to "set the app free"):
Double-click the file "2 - SET ME FREE" and click the "Play"-button*. You're done. :-) Simply double-click the "Domain Genius" app to start the app.
3. When asked for the account name enter "admin". Leave the password field blank and sign in. Domain Genius now opens with an example entry.
4. It's recommended that you now set a password to protect your database. To do so simply choose "Change Password" in the "File" menu. But this step is up to your own taste and is not mandatory.
5. For your convenience you can drag the apps' icon to your Mac OS X dock.
*This is an Apple Script with the following content: xattr -c -r /Applications/Domain-Genius/Domain-Genius.app
More detailed information is provided very soon. Very briefly for now…:
1. Start Domain Brain and select all the domains you want to export from DomainBrain and then choose "File" -> "Export to CSV…".
2. Start Domain Genius and then in the "File" menu click on "Import" -> "File".
3. Select the csv-file you just exported and map the fields used in Domain Brain to the appropriate ones in Domain Genius. Then choose "Import".
If something should go wrong or doesn't match as expected you can just try again. Any new import completely overwrites the current data, so that you're not ending up with a complete mess… ;-)
No, not at all. Everything what is needed is already included in the runtime you get with your purchase.
That's easy: Just export your data as an XML-file, install the new version and then import the XML-file back into the app.
